We understand that the swimming session at the Leisure centre last week was a little chaotic, with the children only getting a short time in the pool, and we wanted to reassure you that this is not the norm!
The school was still receiving forms and money on the first day back which needed organising. Also, the new refurbishments at the centre meant different changing arrangements and systems for the changeover of schools. Once on poolside, the first session is about sorting the children into the correct groups – many say they can swim in the deep end when they do not actually have the technique or strength. It is paramount for their safety that this is done properly.
Hopefully any teething problems will have been sorted out so that the children get their 30 minutes in the pool and as Mrs Cowing (Oakfield’s swimming teacher) has said, “We will be getting them swimming their socks off!”
