As part of the writing challenge, Year 5 pupils were asked to write a story or poem inspired by a line from another author.
Phoebe Baines from 50’s poem caught the eye of Headteacher, Miss Wilkes. The writing needed to start with the line “Hope is the thing with feathers” by 19th Century poet Emily Dickinson. Her first verse was:-
Hope is the thing with feathers, like roses and
Love isn’t a dash of colour, without hugs from your caring mama
God didn’t make love, for it to get so lost
So just take a chance, so it can last
Come and take a chance, and join the Oakfield family!
It’s a beautiful school and a wonderful sight,
so I am glad with delight!
It’s a really big family and we have lots of fun
So come and be part of Oakfield,
because it’s a brilliant place to be!
Well done Phoebe, what a
creative piece of work.
