Computing at Oakfield aims to develop skills in multimedia, data and programming, while also teaching online safety.
Our Specialist Computing Team: Mr Adam Reynolds (Head of Computing).
Our Enrichment Centre (EC) Librarian: Mrs Chris Perrett.
Our Year Group Curriculum Team Leaders: years 8 & 7 (KS3) Mrs Paula Royle and Mrs Kate Stewart. Years 5 & 6 (KS2) Ms Sian Spoerer.
On Wednesday 2nd December, Oakfield Academy launched its first very own Code Club! This is an amazing opportunity for Year 6 pupils to experience and practice their skills of coding using a variety of methods in order to do so. The club has been set up by Mr Reynolds with excellent voluntary help in Mr Downes and Mrs Wade. The pupils thrived in their first session, where they were able to assist each other’s development by asking and answering questions relating to the basic principles of programming using Scratch. Stay tuned for more updates and hopefully an expansion to this amazing club! Also, don’t forget to followTweets by @Oakfieldcomp on Twitter for the latest news and discussions about the subject of Computing.
Computing is used to enhance learning across the curriculum at Oakfield.
To this purpose we have two computing suites, an ipads library and wifi in our main building. Pupils can also book further computing time to safely research and learn in our fully equipped library, the Enrichment Centre (EC.)
Our more able pupils are invited to take part in the Lego Robotics competition as well as challenges throughout all year groups to stretch and enable their computing skills through various competitions.
