Computing at Oakfield aims to develop skills in multimedia, coding and programming and data handling while also developing our pupils to be responsible online citizens.
Our Specialist Computing Team: Mr Adam Reynolds (Head of Computing), Nick Ward, Emma Thomas, Mike Uren and Catrin Cross
This is an amazing opportunity for Year 6 pupils to experience and practice their skills of coding using a variety of methods in order to do so. The club has been set up by Mr Reynolds with excellent voluntary help in Mr Downes and Mrs Wade. The pupils thrived in their first session, where they were able to assist each other’s development by asking and answering questions relating to the basic principles of programming using Scratch. Stay tuned for more updates and hopefully an expansion to this amazing club! Computing is used to enhance learning across the curriculum at Oakfield.
To this purpose we have two computing suites, an ipads library and wifi in our main building. Pupils can also book further computing time to safely research and learn in our fully equipped library, the Enrichment Centre (EC.)
Our more able pupils are invited to take part in the Lego Robotics competition as well as challenges throughout all year groups to stretch and enable their computing skills through various competitions.
