National Spelling Bee Competition

Thomas & Isabel IsabelThe National Bee Spelling competition commenced September 2014 with over 6000 Spelling Bee contestants nationwide.Oakfield Academy took part and gained a place in the regional finals on 20th April 2015 which was made up of 80 regional finalists (French/German/Spanish) & 22 schools for the South West of England.

We are overjoyed to advise that Oakfield Academy came 1st (Isabel Hanney) & 2nd (Thomas Leigh) and will be competing in the National Foreign Languages final in July 2015 (Spanish Category) Eve Lindley & Stephanie Verwey too made us very proud indeed but didn’t quite  make it to the final round of the French eliminations.

Three words to  describe our students this afternoon: Focused, resilient & modest.
