The aim of the course is for interested pupils to take part in a week long structured course based at Frome Fire Station. The week will give them an insight into the role of the fire service, working towards a certificate presentation ceremony on the Friday in front of parents, staff, police officers etc. Lunch will be provided, pupils just need to take their own snack for mid morning. Cadet fire fighters will be provided with full kit, taking part in mock drills using fire equipment and first aid equipment. School staff will be present at all times, however the fire service will be in charge and will be running the course.
A maximum of 12 pupils (age 12 and above) can attend. Pupils must collect an application form from Support & Guidance to register their interest and to apply for a place, stating why they think they should gain a place and what they would gain from taking part in the course. Successful applicants will be selected by PCSO’s and Fire Brigade staff, based on their application. The closing date for applications will be Monday 5th March, with the course taking place week commencing Monday 19th March. Once the 12 cadets have been chosen, further information will be sent out direct to parents. Good Luck.
