Trinity First School / Oakfield School / Frome Community College
I enjoyed my time at Oakfield very much, the teachers were always real good fun and I’ve got lots of fond memories from there. My fondest memories include the Year 6 trip to Osmington Bay – running round orienteering in the dark and it tipping down with rain. We all thought this was great! Similar trips such as Charterhouse in year 7 and 8 were also great fun!
Sport has always been really important to me and as I’ve grown up I wanted my job to be equally as important and enjoyable. After leaving Frome College I attended Writhlington School, taking part in their Tennis Leaders Programme. During this time I completed my Level 1 LTA Coaching Qualification. Following on from this I was offered an apprenticeship with the LTA in Level 2 Tennis Coaching at Writhlington Tennis Centre for a year from Sep 2014 – Sep 2015. During this time I learnt a huge amount from very experienced coaches, and in April 2015 I was given the opportunity to go and do what I love in New Zealand!!!!
I am now on the other side of the world coaching tennis in New Zealand. I teach adults and children at various tennis centres across the Wellington area and also teach pupils in schools. This whole tennis coaching journey really was like a breath of fresh air to me, it was a massive thing for me to decide to go to New Zealand and pretty tough to leave home but I knew it was a chance I couldn’t miss out on and right now I don’t regret my decision at all. I advise anyone who gets a similar chance to me to grab it with both hands!
