Oakfield Academy’s Librarian, Mrs Chris Perrett donating unused library books to ‘Create Change’ coordinator, Emma Parker:
‘Create Change’ is a charity that helps girls from rural communities in Northern Ghana access quality education. In addition to a sponsorship programme (so far they have sponsored over 1,200 girls through secondary and tertiary education), the charity also works with disadvantaged rural schools, providing infrastructure (building libraries, boreholes, water tanks, etc.) and practical support through the delivery of after-school reading clubs. Some sponsored girls can also intern at Create Change and the aim of the charity is to one day be ran entirely by girls who are themselves former beneficiaries. Create Change also works to support women to set up local enterprises. Also pictured representing Oakfield are Year 8 girls Ella Evans and Mae Poole.
