Support & Guidance Coffee mornings

Coffee Mornings take place every Wednesday (the first is on 7.11.18) with our Support & Guidance team from 9.00 to 10.00 am. This is your space and time to share worries, concerns or have discussions with staff, PFSA’s and other parents.  We would like you to suggest themes and topics that you would like discussed during these hour slots, so we can focus them around your requirements and interests.  First session would be an informal hello, introduction over coffee and a chance to put your thoughts out there.  We would be grateful if you could let Support & Guidance know if you plan to join us at these sessions so we can cater for everyone where beverages and biscuits are concerned.  At times we shall be sharing these slots with outside agencies and professionals….. CAMHS link workers, PCSO’s etc.

Future Coffee Mornings and themes are as follows –

14.11.18 The school nurse will be talking about sleep problems in children and techniques to combat this.

21.11.18 PCSO Gary Maule will be talking about keeping safe/alerting parents to drugs in the area/bulling etc and how it is dealt with.

28.11.18 Support & Guidance will be talking about Thrive and emotion coaching techniques.

5.12.18 The School Nurse/CAMHs link worker will be talking about anxiety in children and self help tips.

12.12.18 The School Nurse will be talking about healthy eating/concerns around children’s eating.

School Games SILVER Mark Award

We are delighted to announce that Oakfield Academy have achieved the School Games SILVER Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

 The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:

* Termly Intra-Form Competitions

* Two successful Sports Days

* Top-up Swimming Courses

* Wide variety of Area and County Sports Finals attended

* Large selection of Sports After School Clubs

* Team of KS3 Sports Leaders

With a number of young people competing in local inter school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.
As part of our application we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to our PE Department.  We look forward to applying again in 2019.

Temporary disruption to Oakfield’s ParentPay services

Please be aware that while we are checking the accuracy of all our SIMS data, we would advise you not to use ParentPay. We apologise for the unavoidable inconvenience and are working hard to rectify the situation as soon as possible.
In the mean time, payments for music lessons, trips and swimming can be made via the academy reception by cash or cheque. Pupil’s canteen purchases have been manually recorded and will be uploaded to ParentPay accounts as soon as this is resolved.

Thank you for your continued support

Pavement Works opposite the school.

Please be aware that the pavement directly opposite the Academy will be closed to the public for the next 3 weeks as services are being installed.

Please ensure your child is extra careful whilst the work is taking place across the road – the area is already congested and this is only going to add to road safety issues at the beginning and end of the the day.

Parent Pay

We are sorry that Parentpay is still not available for Year 5 parents. We are doing all we can to rectify this and hope this will be very soon. Parents of our current Year 6, 7 & 8 pupils have the option to pay for items purchased from the academy canteen on Parentpay.   Please be aware that the tills are not updating the system currently so your balance may not be up to date.  Parents can pay for items such as trips by bringing cash or a cheque to the Academy Office.

Thank you for your patience with this matter.
